Your Alpine Highlights holiday is truly a scenic European tour of a lifetime, a fabulous journey through the matchless beauty of Europe’s very heart, viewing it’s greatest rivers, its highest mountains, its deepest valleys, its legendary forests. Here sloping green hillsides are dotted with brightly coloured chalets and flowers; lakes are so clear and blue that they mirror the astonishing beauty of snow-capped mountains; patchworks of tiny villages nestle in deep verdant valleys , and the sound of cowbells grace the alpine air. This is the land of Heidi and William Tell, of yodeling and fondue, of flower boxes and delicious chocolates, of cuckoo clocks and funny hats with tassels.
We’ll walk by gurgling streams swollen from the spring thaw and see majestic peaks. We’ll see the beautiful lake Lucerne and other towns and villages.
The Tyrol region is where “the hills are alive with the sound of Music”. This is the land of Tyrolean hats and lederhosen, of Viennese pastry and very fine porcelain, of music festivals and Hapsburg tradition. We can dance to the beautiful waltzes of Strauss, or listen to the music of Mozart, Brahms, Beethoven, or Shubert. On this memorable journey, we enjoying seeing fabulous castles, dancing in a beer garden or dining on fondue. This tour provides exquisite sightseeing experience, a Great Trip through the Beauty of Europe’s centre.
Day 1: JOIN THE COACH from our continental coach tour departure point in Calais or from your optional local UK pick-up point.
Day 2: CROSS THE CHANNEL and travel through France, Belgium; Germany and into Austria, where we spend the next 5-nights in the Austrian Tyrol. After evening diner why not join us on an optional fun filled Tyrolean evening.
Day 3: SEEFELD & GARMISH PARTENKIRCHEN Relax in the beautiful setting of your hotel, or join us on this optional leisurely excursion through the Inn valley to the mountain town of Seefeld im Tyrol, then onward to the most famous winter Olympic town of Garmish Partenkirchen. With a break at one of Austria’s most stunning café / bars high on the cliff face overlooking Innsbruck, don’t forget your camera!
Day 4: VIPITENO & THE BRENNER PASS Time to pack that camera again as we take another optional excursion over the Europa bridge (The 2nd highest road bridge in Europe) and onto the fairy tail Brenner pass. With plenty of photo opportunities en-route, we make a short visit over the Italian border to the picturesque Dolomite town of Vipiteno.
Day 5: SALZBURG & INNSBRUCK
Relax in the Tyrolean Mountains; enjoy the views and the fresh mountain air or join us on a half-day optional guided walking tour of Salzburg. Later this afternoon you can join us on yet another optional tour to the Olympic town of Innsbruck including a chance to visit the famous Olympic ski jump over looking the cemetery. (Not for the faint hearted!)
Day 6: TYROL-(ZILLERTAL VALLEY and KITZBÜHEL)
Spend another day in the beautiful Tyrolean scenery or join us for an optional trip the fantastic Zillertal valley. On the way back you will briefly stop in the world famous town of Kitzbühel before you return to you hotel.
Day 7: TYROL-UK
Today its time to say goodbye to our Austrian hosts and leave the Tyrol via the Bavarian Alps and travel back through Germany to Calais for the ferry crossing to Dover.
